About the Author
Philip
Edward Duffy was born of American parents abroad. His early years
were spent in France, Poland , and Czechoslovakia. A graduate of
Columbia College and Medical School, he served a residency at the
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. As an Army reservist,
he was recalled to active service in the Far East where he served
as a medical officer during the Korean Conflict. He was Professor
of Neuropathology at Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons for many years and is now Professor Emeritus. During his
scientific career, he was the author of two medical texts and numerous
medical and scientific articles.
Drawing
from his early life in Europe and America, his medical career as
a clinical neurologist and neuropathologist , as well as his experiences
in military service in the Far East, Philip Duffy has turned his
considerable writing skills to the art of the short story. He has
been applauded by reviewers for his thoughtful and perceptive explorations
into the complexities of human experience. In Moments,
Undertones, and his newest book, The Head of the Bull, the reader will discover his uncanny ability to depict
circumstances and emotions of life that are universal.
In
addition to his writing activities activities, Philip Duffy is the
past editor of the literary magazine, Expressions, and currently serves as a trustee of My Country, a
magazine dedicated to American history.
